Injuries

1)  Injuries must be reported to Coach Varvas as soon as possible.  Reporting an injury to an assistant coach without also reporting it to Coach Varvas is not acceptable.  Tell the nearest coach available about the injury and then make sure that Coach Varvas has a report on the injury immediately.

2)  Based on training and experience, athletes will be advised as to the possible course of action with injuries.

3)  If an injury needs to be addressed by a professional, the coaches can recommend places or the family chooses the professional doctor needed.

4)  Injuries that will keep athletes from practicing for more than 3 days must be attended by a professional.

5)  A doctor’s release must be brought to the coaches for injuries attended by a medical professional.

6)  Icing and stretching are the immediate procedures to be followed with an injury.

7)  Injured athletes are to attend practices (but not participate until cleared medically) and help with the practices or walk around the track, lift weights, ride the bikes, swim, etc.

8)  Injured athletes must not try to participate in a workout without clearing with Coach Varvas.  If they start a workout, they are expected to finish it.
