Shoes

1)  Spiked shoes (different models for the different type of events) are needed for all events except for the shot put and the discus.  Special shoes for those events are also available.  The athletes purchase these shoes from places such as the internet, Chick’s, Big 5, A Snail’s Pace, Sportsmart, etc. etc.  PUMA is a sponsor for our program and we would like to see everyone use their shoes.  They are excellent shoes and are fairly priced.

2)  Metal spikes come with the shoes when they are purchased.  Athletes need to have two sets of metal spikes: 1/4” or 3/8” for dirt tracks and 1/8” or 3/16” for synthetic tracks and runways.

3)  Spiked shoes need to be brought to practice regularly.  Put your name (visible on the shoe) on these shoes.  We have many thefts each year due to athletes not being careful with where they leave the shoes.  Guard your shoes and uniforms at all times.

4)  Regular running shoes are needed for our practices as well as for the meets.  Be sure that your shoes have a good arch support in them.
