Girls Lacrosse Owns the Day at Own the City Tournament
5/1/2010 Girls LacrosseWoodbridge 8, Northwood 4: In front of the largest crowd to watch a girls lacrosse game in city history, the Lady Warriors played one of their best games of the season, defeating the Timberwolves in the girls showcase game at the Own the City Lacrosse tournament Saturday afternoon at Irvine Stadium.
Stifling defensive pressure spearheaded by senior Ellen Boyer and freshwoman Jolie Huisken and clutch goaltending by junior Veronika Tsymbler held Northwood's two leading scorers without a score on the afternoon and generated multiple fast break opportunities for senior Karen Cheng, junior Kara Hericks, and sophomore Miriam Velazquez.
Girls Lacrosse Remains Undefeated in City Play
4/17/2010 Girls LacrosseWoodbridge 13, Northwood 12: Junior Kara Hericks put in the go ahead goal with 30 seconds left to play as the Warriors edged Northwood 13-12 Friday afternoon.
Junior Subrina Cariaga and sophomores Caity Duke and Patricia Tam made huge clutch plays to win possession down the stretch and seniors Ellen Boyer and Karen Cheng as well as sophomores Stephanie Renteria and Amy Yuan shut down the Timberwolves key scorers when it counted most.
Kara led all scorers with 6 goals, supported by three by sophomore Miriam Velazquez. Season statistics.
Girls Lacrosse Lights Up Scoreboard
3/25/2010 Girls LacrosseWoodbridge 20, Northwood 13: A Warrior attack firing on all cylinders connected on 20 of 26 shot attempts to defeat city and league rival Northwood on Wednesday.
Junior Kara Hericks scored eight goals on nine shots and also had two assists, while sophomore Miriam Velazquez connected on all five of her tries to spearhead the 20-13 victory. Sophomore Caity Duke and junior Subrina Cariaga controlled action in the midfield, and sophomore Brianna Silva and freshwoman Anna Takushi contributed strong defense and playmaking.

3/10/2010 Girls LacrosseWoodbridge 14, Capistrano Valley 12 (2OT): Coming back from four goals down with under eight minutes to play, the Warrior Girls Lacrosse team improved their record to 4-1 with a dramatic 14-12 victory at Capistrano Valley High School. Box score.
Juniors Kara Hericks and Subrina Cariaga, along with sophomore Miriam Velazquez and freshwoman Jolie Huisken, controlled the midfield draw and sophomores Brianna Silva, Stephanie Renteria, Caity Duke, and Amy Yuan played suffocating defense down the stretch to fuel the comeback.
