Stewart Named 2009 Woodbridge Girl Scholar Athlete

Warriors Girls Lacrosse captain Quinn StewartThe Warrior Girls Lacrosse team would like to congratulate its captain, Quinn Stewart, on being named Woodbridge High School’s female Scholar Athlete of the Year. 

  

Quinn has captained the girls lacrosse team for the past two years, leading the team in ground balls, draw controls, and minutes played, and earning all-league status two years in a row, including first team All-Sea View League this year.

  

Quinn is a two sport athlete, also playing Varsity soccer.

  

In addition to her athletic accomplishments, Quinn is one of Woodbridge’s foremost scholars, winner of more than a dozen Sentinel Medallion awards and maintaining over a 4.0 GPA.

Girls Lacrosse Faces City Rivals Friday

Woodbridge 12, Capistrano Valley 9:  Woodbridge Girls Lacrosse (3-4) faces its chief rival and first league opponent this Friday at 3:30pm at Northwood High School.  Last year the two teams split a pair of evenly matched, intensely contested games, including a thrilling overtime match in the first contest.

  

The Warriors are coming off of a great road win at Capistrano Valley.  Senior Masumi Pinto scored three goals and senior Elise Tang notched two goals and three assists to lead the team to a 12-10 victory.  Senior goaltender Rachael Hudson anchored the defense with eight saves while receiving strong support from senior Quinn Stewart and juniors Karen Cheng and Ellen Boyer, among others.  Game Summary.

Girls Lacrosse Takes 2nd Place at Rose Bowl Tourney

Girls Lacrosse finished in 2nd place in the Red Bracket of the prestigious Rose Bowl Tournament last weekend, losing the championship to Redondo Union 8-5 in a tense championship game after earning blowout victories over Downey and Brentwood.

  

Plenty of new players to the program got a chance to shine in the two victories, with freshman Miriam Velazquez scoring four goals to lead the team for the tourney.  Senior goalie Rachael Hudson posted a pair of shutouts and registered 15 saves, while senior attackers Masumi Pinto, Rebecca Lutz, and Elise Tang anchored the team.

Girls Lacrosse Captain Masumi PintoThe Warrior Girls Lacrosse team congratulates Captain Masumi Pinto on accepting a scholarship from Carthage College, giving the program its first scholarship athlete in only its second year.

  

Pinto is excited to go play for the Lady Reds in Kenosha, Wisconsin next year.
