Woodbridge 1, Aliso Niguel 6:  Woodbridge High's softball team lost its home opener Friday, falling to Aliso Niguel at Deanna Manning Stadium (Barber Park).  Aliso Niguel (5-4) pounded out 11 hits.

Woodbridge sophomore Heather Gorey, pitched six innings and gave up six runs on 10 hits.  Gorey (2-2) walked two and struck out one.  "I did OK but I didn't hit the corners with my pitches," Gorey said.  "I was putting too many of them down the middle."

A combination of Woodbridge errors and the speed of Aliso Niguel proved to be the difference in the game.  "We're making mental mistakes," said Woodbridge coach Alan Dugard, who referred to a botched rundown play and several times in the game when the Warriors threw to the wrong base.  "We need to think and communicate better."

The Warriors scored first with a run in the third inning.  Chelsea Wozniak led off with a single to left.  Jesika Johnson then laid down a bunt that Aliso's Kaitlyn Barnhart fielded and threw to second.

However, Wozniak's speed beat the throw and Woodbridge had two on and no outs.  Kyle Nakama followed by sacrificing Wozniak and Johnson up a base.  Danielle Douglas ripped a single, scoring Wozniak and giving the Warriors a 1-0 lead.  However, Aliso Niguel took over after that.
