Cameron Kosbab and Blake Mills combined for 35 kills and Scott Liljestrom had 39 assists as the Woodbridge boys volleyball team got its Sea View League season off to a successful start, defeating Foothill in four games, 22-25, 27-25, 25-17, 25-21, Thursday night.
The win avenged a loss to the Knights at last weekend's Orange County Championships. Foothill, ranked third in Division I entering the week, fell to 13-3. The Warriors, number 9 in Division I, improved to 8-5.
Woodbridge broke an 18-18 tie in Game 4 and outscored the Knights, 7-3, down the stretch to close out the match. Kosbab recorded three critical kills and Ryan Gonzalez blocked the final Foothill spike to seal the Woodbridge victory.
"It was a big match and we had first game jitters," Mills said. "We were shell shocked in Game 1, but we came back and played consistent."
