Woodbridge 4-3, Marina 8-9:  The Woodbridge's softball team pounded out 18 hits in a doubleheader against Marina, but it wasn't enough as the Warriors dropped both ends of the twin bill Friday in nonleague action at Deanna Manning Stadium (Barber Park).

In Game 1, the Vikings scored six times in the fifth inning to break open a close game and go on to win 8-4.  In the nightcap, Marina erupted for five runs in the sixth inning to pull away and win 9-3.

Woodbridge coach Alan Dugard said the little things have been hurting his team.  "One big inning has been killing us," said Dugard.  "The name of the game is defense.  When our opponents get on base we've been making little mistakes that have cost us.  We need to shut it up and pull this thing together."

In Game 2, Jesika Johnson led off the Warriors first inning by striking out, but she alertly reached first on a past ball following the third strike.  Kyle Nakama sacrificed Johnson to second and then Hannah Dowling singled her home to give Woodbridge a 1-0 lead.

The Warriors extended their lead to 3-0 in the second as Kaitlyn Friday and Danielle Douglas both singled and came around to score following Johnson's infield single and a throwing error.

Marina pushed across two runs in the second and then took advantage of a hit, three walks, two wild pitches and two past balls to move in front, 4-3.  Sara Asroui had a big game for the Warriors with three hits.  Johnson had two hits in Game 1 and a hit and scored a run in game two.
