It was a rough year for Woodbridge High's softball team, which finished 6-20 overall and 1-9 in Sea View League play.

But Coach Alan Dugard believes better times are ahead for his squad and is looking at getting the Warriors back in the CIF playoffs.  "I think we've got a lot of really dedicated kids now," Dugard said.  "And they want to play, they're all coming back.  We just lose one, and we'll see what kind of class we have coming in and see how good we are."

Dugard was pleased with the play of his squad in the Thousand Oaks Tournament in which the Warriors won two games.  "We beat a couple of very good teams and lost a couple of games," Dugard said.  Woodbridge defeated El Camino Real and St. Joseph's of Santa Maria.  "We lost to La Quinta which I think had only two losses all year, in eight innings," Dugard said.  Heather Gorey was outstanding on the mound for Woodbridge, winning one and losing an extra inning game.

Woodbridge ended the season last Thursday losing to Northwood, 4-3, in eight innings.  The Warriors rallied with a run in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game and send it to extra innings.  "They played well and I was happy with the girls, they came back," Dugard said.
