Girls Lacrosse Takes 2nd Place at Rose Bowl Tourney
Girls Lacrosse finished in 2nd place in the Red Bracket of the prestigious Rose Bowl Tournament last weekend, losing the championship to Redondo Union 8-5 in a tense championship game after earning blowout victories over Downey and Brentwood.
Plenty of new players to the program got a chance to shine in the two victories, with freshman Miriam Velazquez scoring four goals to lead the team for the tourney. Senior goalie Rachael Hudson posted a pair of shutouts and registered 15 saves, while senior attackers Masumi Pinto, Rebecca Lutz, and Elise Tang anchored the team.
Following an intense home game against Sage Hill on Wednesday, during which the lead changed five times prior to the Warriors eventually falling 11-10, the Warriors hit the road for an extended stretch. Upcoming road games against Huntington Park, Beckman (at Hicks Canyon Elementary School), Capistrano Valley, and Northwood are on the schedule.
Lady LAX next play at home (Alton Park) on the 25th against Foothill.
