At the CIF Southern Section Cross Country Championships, the boys and girls teams qualified for state by finishing as one of the top seven teams in their respective divisions.  By doing so, the storied Warrior cross country program (even with their historic success year after year) sent both teams to Fresno in the same year for the first time since 1987, the first year of the California State Championships.  Complete meet results.

Running the tough hill course at Mt. SAC, the girls finished 7th in the Division 3 finals with a great team time of 96:38 (30th overall of all teams at the meet).

Sophomore Nicole (Coco) Evans finished with a time of 18:01 (7th in the Division 3 finals race and the 24th best time overall in the meet) and Molly Babcock followed behind Coco at 18:37 (20th in the race and 89th overall).  Annie Chan ran 19:22, Marissa Lara ran 19:43, Olivia Barriga ran 20:55, Youval Yadlin ran 21:22, and freshman Alexis Abad ran 21:54.

Dillon Scott led for the Warriors with a 29th place finish in a time of 15:56.  He was followed by Michael Evans at 37th place and a huge 16:03 time.  Next scoring finishers included Josh Kingsland (43rd, 16:07), Derrick Fleming (44th, 16:07), and Cameron Mahon (64th, 16:23), and then freshman Ryan Cheng (17:18) and Jorge Herrera (17:19).  The boys scorers spread (from 1st to 5th-place finishers) was only 28 seconds.

The Warriors now travel to Fresno to compete at the California State Cross Country Championships at Woodward Park on Saturday, November 28th.  The girls Division 3 race will run at 9:05am with the boys competing at 10:10am.  DyeStatCal's the Road to Fresno website2009 State Championship Handbook
