Woodbridge Booster President’s Message: A Time to Reflect and Celebrate

As you read your first Principal’s Newsletter for the 2007-08 school year, it is hard to believe what has transpired over the past year.  As the year comes to a close, it gives us all time to Reflect and Celebrate.  The 2006-07 school year at Woodbridge H.S. once again reflects the statement, “Home of Scholars and Champions!” Warrior student athletes represented Woodbridge H.S. with sportsmanship, integrity and honor in the ‘reconfigured’ Sea View League.  Warrior athletes enjoyed team and individual successes throughout this past year.  The Woodbridge Warrior Booster organization recognizes the incredible students, staff, coaches and administration as they continue the Tradition of Excellence at WHS!

We would also like to extend our appreciation to all of our Booster and Southern California Half Marathon representatives this past year.  You are an awesome group of volunteers and due to your efforts our students and programs continue to excel on the field and the classroom.  Booster membership is at its highest levels for the past five years.  The Woodbridge Warrior Boosters donated $70,000 during the 2006-07 school year to the WHS Athletic Department to meet student and program needs.  The Southern California Half Marathon has become our organization’s primary fund raising effort for the year and its success is in large part due to the Woodbridge H.S. ‘family’ coming together to make this event one of Southern California’s premiere races.

Lastly, we would like to acknowledge the following individuals on our Executive Board that are ‘termed out’ in their positions:

  • Financial SecretaryMike Chronley:  Your efforts and time have been “HUGE”.  Thanks for all that you’ve done behind the scenes in coordinating our SCHM event.

  • TreasurerDavid Parr:  Your organizational skills and communication have kept our organization moving forward ~ you will be missed!

  • 2nd Vice-PresidentJan Kerchner:  Passing the baton on to her husband, Jim, your commitment to education and school service is evident!

Other key Volunteers that have vacated their posts:

  • Football Snack Bar CoordinatorSharon Cahn:  Will continue in a ‘consult’ mode for the 2007-08 year, but has worked tirelessly for the benefit of WHS!

  • NewsletterPhylis Jacobs:  Helped to transition our Booster Newsletter from a printed mailer format to e-tronic status, she has been instrumental in promoting the successes of teams / individuals at WHS, thanks Phylis!

  • ParliamentarianSusan Midstokke:  Your insight and experience over the years at WHS has been invaluable to the organization!

We recognize that the students, families, faculty and administration indeed make Woodbridge H.S. a special place.  We want to extend to all of you that your efforts have made this past year ~ a year to remember!

Happy holidays everyone!
