Warriors Football battles Beckman close but loses 21-14

Running back Kyle Merritt advances for a gain against BeckmanWoodbridge 14, Beckman 21:  The Warriors fought the Patriots (5-1) even through the first half but were unable to sustain it after half-time in the last non-league game for both teams on Friday at Tustin High School.

  

Woodbridge took the lead in the second quarter on a 29-yard pass from junior quarterback Charlie Kelley to sophomore tight end Nick Gstrein.  Beckman came back with a score of their own prior to the half.

  

Both teams battled it out in the second half with Beckman taking the lead deep into the third quarter.

Former Warrior Rachel Lerma Honored in College Soccer

Rachel Lerma, former Warrior, now attends Emerson College in BostonWoodbridge alumni Rachel Lerma (2006), a standout soccer and track and field athlete for the Warriors, now in her third year in at Emerson College (Boston, MA) leads her Women's Soccer team in scoring with eight goals (as of Oct 10th).

Girls Volleyball continues League sweep against Foothill

Woodbridge 3, Foothill 0:  The #6-ranked Warriors (2-0 League, 8-3 Overall) swept the Knights (0-2, 0-13), 25-17, 26-24, 25-22, Wednesday evening at Foothill High School.

  

Leah Sully had 12 kills while Jenny Feicht has 34 assists.

Boys Water Polo opens league with 2OT loss to Northwood

Woodbridge 5, Northwood 6 (2OT):  The Warriors lost a heart-breaker to the Timberwolves in two overtimes Wednesday evening at the Woollett Aquatics Center.

  

Woodbridge was led by Dylan Trumbull (3 goals, 1 assist), Nathan Tudhope (2 goals), and goalie Steven Itrich (18 saves, 4 steals).

Girls Volleyball sweeps Northwood in first League contest

Jenny Feicht, Grace Konstanzer, and Sara McCutchan against Northwood Monday eveningWoodbridge 3, Northwood 0:  The Warriors (1-0 League, 7-3 Overall) won convincingly against the Timberwolves (0-1, 6-5), 25-18, 25-20, 25-19, on Monday evening at the WHS Gym.

  

Other than early in the second game, when Northwood led until the Warriors tied it at 19-19, sixth-ranked Woodbridge was clearly the superior team this night on the court.

  

  

Cross Country teams dominate at Yucaipa Invitational

The Warriors were dominant in cross country Saturday at the Yucaipa Invitational at Yucaipa High School.  Woodbridge took four Gold Division (II) team titles, one second, and a third in the six races run.  In each of the three girls races, the Warriors won the individual title. 

Warriors Football unable to keep up with Laguna Hills

Woodbridge 9, Laguna Hills 45:  The Warriors (0-4) played a strong first quarter against the 12th-ranked Hawks (4-0) but couldn't keep up with their speed as they pulled away in the second quarter.  The two teams played a Thursday game at Irvine Stadium.  Read Brent Shaver's OCVarsity.com article on the game.
