Boys Basketball Ekes Out OT Victory in Second Game
Woodbridge 60, Trabuco Hills 56 OT: The Woodbridge boys won an overtime game against the Mustangs in the second game of Tuesday's girls-boys basketball doubleheader at the Woodbridge gym. After a back-and-forth first quarter, the Warriors pulled ahead at halftime by two, 21-19.
The Warriors (4-19 Overall, 3-6 Sea View League) pulled away in the third quarter by as much as 14 points, leading 42-28 late in the period. Trabuco Hills (6-19, 2-7) came back in the fourth quarter, finally taking a two-point lead late in regulation. Critical rebounds by Kyle O'Mara and Cameron Kosbab helped create the opportunities for Woodbridge to tie the game, 50-50, to force overtime.
After O'Mara made an early free throw in overtime, both teams switched leads with every possession for the first half of the overtime period. A key defensive rebound by O'Mara stopped the alternating scores by each team, allowing the Warriors to maintain a two-point lead in the last minute of OT. Two key free throws by Jeff Fo sealed the victory.
The Warriors top scorers included Joe Marshall with 12 points, and O'Mara and Nima Shayeg with 9 points.
